I’m Roxana, nice to meet you!

Some of you may know me as GreenGirl. The name doesn’t come from all the greens I ate as a child, hardly remember eating any until later in my teenage years. My favorite color is green and I have a green thumb, thus the name.

I’m a 33-year-old stay at home wife to the most wonderful husband and mother to a super-spoiled 3 year home-schooled girl, happily living in Central Virginia. We’re thankful that life gave us the opportunity to be able to stay home and watch her grow day by day.

I’m a passionate baker, a firm believer chocolate makes everything better and a Pinterest addict

I started baking while pregnant with my daughter, my very first attempt being a layered German Chocolate Cake. Since that day, I’ve read a couple of books about this wonderful science and I’m still fascinated every day by it.

My favorite thing to eat (guilt free) is chocolate cheesecake. Or anything with cheesecake or with chocolate. I also love fresh homemade bread. I lost count how many times I’ve burned my fingers and my tongue taking a small bite.

I was born in Romania and came to the States a couple of years ago. Being born outside US I’m more familiar with the grams and this is how I measure while baking later converting to cups/spoons/ounces for my blog.

I started blogging as a way to keep track of my progress in the kitchen and to get rid of the pile of printed recipes with hand written notes all over them.

My blog is focused on baking everything from scratch. Baking not only brings me joy but completes me as well. I’m a self-taught baker, learning more with every cup of flour I use.

Baking from scratch has a reputation of being too complicated and/or time consuming. I’m here to prove people wrong. Home baking may be as simple as a muffin recipe or something more laborious like a yeast bread or a layer cake. I want to inspire people to put away the store bought bread or cake mix box and get messy in the kitchen. That’s how memories are made!

Most of the recipes found on my blog rely on simple techniques everyone can master with a little bit of patience. I want my readers to achieve the same results as me in the comfort of their kitchen.

On my blog you’ll find a collection of family favorite recipes, my own creations after a couple of trials and errors, and recipes inspired from cookbooks, cooking sites, and great blogs.

Except my family, the neighbors and a couple of close friends are my taste testers. Love you all!!
