Welcome to Roxana’s Home Baking! I’m Roxana, though some know me as GreenGirl.
Why? Don’t be fooled — it’s not because of all the vegetables (or lack thereof) that I ate growing up. Simply put, I love the color green and have a green thumb.
If you’ve stumbled upon this site, it’s probably because you have a passion for baking, just like me, and just about everything you’ll find on my blog will show that.
I’m a self-taught baker, learning more with every cup of flour I use.Baking not only brings me joy but completes me as well.
I’m also a self-proclaimed choco-holic, especially when it’s combined with cheesecake, and there’s nothing better than freshly baked, homemade bread. I’ve lost count of many times I’ve burned my fingers and tongue from taking a bite of bread before it’s cooled.
Although I love baking, my most important roles have nothing to do with food at all — being a mother and wife. I’m a 33-year-old, stay-at-home mom to the most adorable (and spoiled) 3-year-old that I homeschool, and have been blessed with the most wonderful husband.
I currently live in central Virginia, but I was born in Romania, and moved to the United States a few years ago. Because of where I grew up, I bake using the metric system, and convert recipes to cups/tablespoons/ounces before I post them. If you have any questions about converting recipes, I’m happy to help.
Roxana’s Home Baking was started as a way to keep track of my cooking adventures and recipes, and create a more permanent collection of my recipes (rather than having a pile of printed recipes laying around!) and is focused on baking everything from scratch.
Baking from scratch doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming – Home baking may be as simple as a muffin recipe or something more laborious like a yeast bread or a layer cake. I want to inspire people to put away the store bought bread or cake mix box and get messy in the kitchen. That’s how memories are made.
Just about every recipe found on Roxana’s Home Baking can be made using simple techniques everyone can master. All you need is a little bit of patience, a drive to make delicious food, and I know you’ll be able to achieve the same results as me in the comfort of your own kitchen.
